An interpersonal relationship advisor and certified master coach Kathleen is dedicated to the empowerment of women and men facing workplace and relationship conflicts including bullying and harassment. Her focus is on uncovering the real problems between individuals and among teams. She provides a big-picture analysis of situations and designs specific and focused paths for transforming conflict into harmony. Kathleen’s strengths lie in her ability to help her clients end conflict by improving their personal and professional interactions. Central to her work is the belief that every organization is capable of ending interpersonal conflicts.
Kathleen received her Masters in Professional Coaching from the International Coaching Federation, her Certification in Co-Active Coaching and Relationship Systems training from Coaches Training Institute. She has been in private practice for 10 years and an in-house coach at the University of California, Los Angeles, University of Southern California, and California Institute of Technology for over 20 years.
Kathleen holds a C.Phil. in Sociology from the University of California Los Angeles Her doctoral research was on sexual harassment in academe wherein she studied communication and miscommunication in harassment situations. She earned her Business Management Certification from the University of Southern California. Her research interests include workplace bullying, assertiveness, and communication best practices.
Kathleen’s communication and problem solving skills were developed during her work at the University of California, Los Angeles, University of Southern California, and California Institute of Technology. During these years in academia she handled thousands of cases involving interpersonal and team conflicts. As founding leader of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs (FWE), Southern California, she reduced fear and conflict for her members thereby empowering FWE entrepreneurs to raise hundreds of millions of dollars in venture capital between 1998 and 2000.
Her passion for interpersonal problem-solving stems from her experiences during the contentious civil rights, women’s rights, and disability rights days when bad communication was everywhere and problems were exacerbated instead of resolved. Kathleen’s commitment to uncovering the real causes and cures for conflict is reflected in her upcoming presentation at the 7th International Conference on Workplace Bullying in Wales in June 2010.
